Using SheToldMe for Perks on Hubpages
72Leveraging Your Time
One of the biggest goals for any Hubber on HubPages is driving as much traffic as possible to their articles. The goal of any writer is to get their content viewed, and this is a major problem for many members of HubPages because of the high amount of competition. Furthermore, many Hubbers enjoy the cause and effect relationship of getting traffic and making money from their ads. The goal is to drive as much unique traffic as possible while enticing viewers to click as many ads as possible. I have found a way to increase my HubPages AdSense clicks by 100% (yes, I doubled my average) in only 24 hours. This does not mean that I am making any serious money on HubPages yet - but I am making serious money with my AdSense account by driving traffic. In fact, in just one day I have more than quadrupled my typical earnings with AdSense. While I cannot drive an overwhelming amount of traffic to my own hubs, there are countless sources of information on the internet that I can help drive traffic to, while getting paid for it. It is a win-win scenario - authors get their work seen, and I am compensated for driving traffic to their pages. How did I do it? Read on
The Steps for Serious AdSense and Traffic Gains
The other day I was introduced to SheToldMe, which is a social bookmarking website that allows you to insert your AdSense code for every social bookmark you make. Furthermore, SheToldMe also allows you to keep 100% of the AdSense revenue, and displays your ads 100% of the time. My original goal was to get a few more people to see my Hubs, and maybe get a couple of AdSense clicks on SheToldMe. I usually bookmark my hubs with the more well-known websites such as Digg, and typically I see a short-lived spike in traffic, but generally no increase in AdSense revenue. SheToldMe has been a steady source of traffic for my hubs since I joined less than 2 days ago. Not only has my traffic more than doubled, but my AdSense clicks from HubPages has doubled. This isn't an impressive figure - basically, I have gone from 2 to 4 clicks per day on my HubPages account. What is impressive is that the AdSense clicks I am getting on SheToldMe are already averaging $5 per day (around 40 clicks per day). Here is how I did it.
Step 1:
Register an account on SheToldMe (click here).
The registration process is a pain in the butt. First of all, you must insert all of your information as you register, and you can't skip these steps. You also must give your reason for joining SheToldMe, so as to weed out spammers. Finally, after you register, you have to wait 24-48 hours for your account to be approved. Trust me, it is worth it, and this waiting period will give you time to research for the following steps.
Step 2:
Once your account is approved, and you have inserted your Google AdSense publisher ID into your profile, it is time to start linking your own pages. On SheToldMe, your articles are called Scoops. You submit a scoop by inserting the URL to the page, adding a title, and a 200 - 5,000 character description. You then choose a category and some tags to go along with your scoop, and voila, you are finished.
For Hubs: Do not just copy and paste your info into SheToldMe. For your hubs, I recommend writing an original title, and also writing a unique description. We all know that Google does not like duplicate content, and this is especially true when it comes to HubPages hubs. A short, 2-3 sentence description will suffice - the goal here is to make your description enticing without giving away details, and make the person who is viewing your scoop want to click the "continue reading" link. This is all you need to do for Hubs, and the next step is the most important way to earn serious AdSense clicks.
Step 3:
Now, you want to start submitting content that is not your own, but socially bookmarking interesting content that you actually like. This is much like what you would do on Digg, and is not against any policy of AdSense or SheToldMe. The first step you must take is to find the most interesting content you can. The best way I have found to accomplish this task, is to go to Google Trends. Here, you can see what the most searched content of the day is. When you click on an item, it will give you a list of "related searches." These terms will become your keywords for your scoop, and will give you ideas for more keywords. Next, you will see "news items" toward the bottom of the specific trend page. What you want to do is go to these news pages that are related to the trend, and scoop them on SheToldMe.
Step 4:
I highly recommend using the SheToldMe bookmark tool to make scooping easier. Basically, you drag a link to your bookmark toolbar in Firefox, and when you are on a website you want to scoop, you simply click that bookmark. If the page has already been submitted to SheToldMe, instead of allowing you to write a scoop it will give you the scoop that was already submitted. This will save you some time and hassle. To write a proper scoop for the news items, the best method I have found is to simply copy and paste the first one or two paragraphs into the description field, and then to paraphrase them. This does not mean re-writing the paragraphs, and it should only take around 30 seconds. Again, try to make this content extremely enticing. News writers are already familiar and are experts at writing keyword rich articles, so this will make your scoop keyword rich and search engine friendly.
Step 5:
Every trend of the day on Google has numerous news sources. So if the scoop you want to post has been taken, pick a different news item of the same topic and try scooping that content. Then continue to scoop as much content as you can. I have only created around 40 scoops, which took me an hour to do, and I have already received about 40 AdSense clicks. One extra method to take into consideration is choosing topics that have keywords which will likely have high paying AdSense ads (for example, the scoop I did about the Apple i-touch generated a click that was somehow worth $2.50) Some of the members of SheToldMe have posted over 1,000 scoops. The best part is that if your content is hot and interesting, people are sure to find it, and then rate it - and typically, many of your scoops will wind up on the FRONT PAGE of SheToldMe automatically. The website does not allow spammers or duplicate content, so you will be certain to have unique and interesting items to display that will be sure to captivate someone. I imagine that 1,000's of items could be submitted in around a month by a single person.
Step 6:
Repeat, repeat, and.. repeat. Everyday, Google Trends change, and some things are only popular for a few hours, so each afternoon submit new items based on the Google Trends. Not to mention, Everything you submit on SheToldMe will show your display name, as well as your website. For me, that meant my HubPages account link. Although this is only my 11th hub, I have 40 scoops that now backlink to my HubPages account. Over time, regardless of the content that I am posting at SheToldMe, more people will wind up at my HubPages account. So, not only are the AdSense perks fantastic, but people are finding my content, finally starting to comment on it, and once again drawing me further and further into writing some hubs. Therefore, it might even be more effective to tell all your friends or fans about checking out your SheToldMe account, where there is more content to sift through, more opportunity for someone to be linked to your HubPages account or website, and more opportunity for your AdSense Ads to be clicked.
Conclusion
If you haven't already left to join this great site, please make sure to sign up at SheToldMe. Once your account is approved and activated, start posting as much content as you can, and make sure to link your HubPages account (or other website you need traffic to) to your SheToldMe account so that they will be displayed with every scoop you create. I'm not getting rich (yet) or anything like that with SheToldMe, but it certainly is going to be helping me with the bills a little bit this month, and that is something noteworthy in my opinion. Therefore, I highly recommend you join and follow the aforementioned steps - whether you want more money, more exposure, or more readers, you will get them all, and exponentially increase these things over time.

Definitely the most information I've seen so far on SheToldMe. Did you sign up for Chitika for STM? If so, how long did it take to get approved? Would you consider going back and elaborating on what was so pesky about the sign up for STM? I'd also suggest you reconsider that "30 seconds" for entries in Step 4. It sounds completely unrealistic. Just a suggestion.
Thanks for your response htg. I guess I'm really slow. It would take me several minutes to revise a summary into something original. I'll just think of myself as the tortoise.
sunforged recommended signing up for chitika. You can read his comments in his How to Use SheToldMe.com hub.
Per my current understanding, SheToldMe encourages members to post our own content. But you said they want to ensure against spammers. So is it not okay to say you want to join so that you can share your hubs? Should we say we what to share others' wonderful content? How best to answer the "reason for joining" question?
Very good advice my friend loving it!!!
Great advice... I will have to try out it out on Shetoldme when I get a chance.
Cheers
Oh wow, I'm so happy I found the article Lynda mentioned on the thread you started! Thanks HTG and Lynda (for the hint), this is something I definitely did not know and I have done my homework. Really great hub and info. So simple I could just kick myself, then again, I was under the impression that I could only post my own content. Live and learn I guess and sometimes it's ok to be curious, lol.
seems great information. let me try. thanks for the information
Rated up and bookmarked! I have already joined SheToldMe but haven't made much progress there. That's why I really appreciate your guidelines!
This was helpful, I will be coming back to this one.
Thanks for the info - I have used Shetoldme mainly for my own hubs which has produced a bit of traffic and not much else. Will try adding other content and see how it goes!
I like the idea of adding news items to Shetoldme.
Good hub
I posted 15 shetoldme links and no clicks so far. How long do I need to wait before I get some clicks, especially since these are trending topics?
Good advice but shetoldme never works for me, it always says there is a problem with the url - even if I use their tool to add the url.
I will go to shetoldme and try it. I'm a little confused but will figure it out. Add my content and other content news am I right? Thanks for the info.
I've recently begun putting my hubs on Shetoldme. Today, when I finished (I only have 13 hubs so far) I decided to follow your advice from this hub. I spent about an hour, but only got 6 bookmarks. On a fluke, decided to check Adsense. My total earnings to date had been .62 cents. I figured it was too soon to tell, but when I looked, my total had doubled in one day! You may laugh at $1.22, but I'm thrilled. I'll keep at it. Thanks!
This is very clever stuff and shows it pays to think outside the box. Thanks a lot!
This might be the most awesome thing I have read yet on HubPages, and thanks for sharing it! :) I'm heading over to SheToldMe to check this out. Glad I came! I'm bookmarking this.
hey, I joined SheToldMe from the referral link here, I think you should really post more of your referral links to the other sites mentioned, so people who appreciated the "13 Hubs" series can use them. Cheers :D
Hi-
I'm a big fan of yours - I've been studying this type of stuff for three years and you definitely are a trailblazer. One question: When you are linking to your hubpages account in your STM display name/website - where do you link to at hubpages? Do you link to your account? If so, how? Or are you saying you would link to one of your hubs at hubpages? I think you're saying you're linking to your account, but I'm not sure how to get that particular url to link it. Probably a dumb question, but wouldn't be the first one I've asked...
thanks!
Tip on creating news scoop is really great. Thumbs Up!!!
This is great to know. Thanks for filling us in.
Thanks! But i signed up 2 weeks ago and i haven´t heard any feedback from Shetoldme.com, so i sent them a letter saying that i haven´t heard from you, but i registred long time ago..What should i do next?
Have you noticed any change in shetoldme recently ? I have got over 100 scoops there and initially used to get a few clicks now and then - now I don't even get any visitors - only 1 visitor so far this month ! And only 4 for the whole of last month.
Rereading your challenge series, I think I misread it the last time and made it more complicated than you intended. So I'm glad I checked there again, both for the clarification and for the link to this article. Well done again, in a way that's rare. Ooh I'm glad to find a medium for comments like that!
nice hub!
I had allready registered at She told me, but will have to wait another week, they are on holiday. At least I know now they do not work with a lot of autoresponders.
Excellent info. I am going to give this a shot.
Cheers,
G.
Really it is a useful article. I tried to go to shetoldme.com, but it is not loading, any way I will try later. thanks for the valuable information, voted up
Great hub. Thanks. I found the use of Google Trends for social bookmarking topics especially interesting.
Wow, I am slowly but surely making connections all over the place. Synchronicity is having its way with me again. I have been ignoring my seekyt account. No more! Coming across this hub again is wonderful. Thanks for the info.

You pointed out a feature of SheToldMe that I had not yet discovered / recognized or read about on HP yet. Good job. I've been busy for the past hour and already have 60+ scoops (not counting any of my own hubs, that is)
